Meet The Artist
Ingrid Eva is a mainly self taught artist, having developed her style and technique over a lifetime, with a commitment to making art more than just a hobby since 2019.
Presently, her focus is abstract paintings. She creates a texture underlay using modelling paste, structure gel, grain gel, PVA and gesso, working the mediums with a palette knife to form flowing and erratic patterns that influence the direction of the paint that follows.
Working with strong colours, many of her pieces lean towards nature-inspired shades such as blues and greens, though she often introduces pops of neon and gold leaf. Her technique is instinctive, painting quickly and intuitively, without a preconceived idea of her final composition. She builds the paints in layers, allowing brush marks and drips of paint to remain visible.
Although her abstract work is entirely open to interpretation, it is largely inspired by the sea, sun, earth and horizon. Ingrid has also worked in pencil, charcoal and pastels, creating cloud scapes and stylised female portraits.
Originally from a corporate background, Ingrid’s true passion is art. She is happiest in her studio, relishing in the freedom and messy play that art can provide. Being able to incorporate creativity into her life, challenge herself as an artist and share her work with others is a dream come true for her.
